The
Health & Wellness Trends Database of the Natural Marketing Institute identified in 2008 five different consumer segments when it comes to health and wellness.
Click here to read the description of the each of the five segments shown in the above image. After carefully reading the descriptions, find examples of products or services specifically targeted at 3 of the five segments (one product per segment). You must explain and justify your choice! As usual, you cannot use examples that someone else has already included in their comment, so the earlier you finish this assignment, the easier it will be for you to get it done.

A person who falls into the "Food Actives" category is completely concerned with how good food will allow them to maintain a healthy lifestyle. A product that would be targeted at these people is Kashi cereal because it is a great source of whole grains, fiber, nutrients, etc. that would appeal to a group that emphasizes balance of diet, exercise and nutrition. Kashi aims to create a healthful lifestyle for the long term through eating organic food that is good for your body. To this person, "Healthy eating is a vital part of life."
ReplyDeleteFor the next category, "Magic Bullets," Trimspa, which is a dietary supplement, or weight loss pill, is a product aimed specifically at this group. People who fall under this category look for quick and easy fixes to their struggles with health. To a magic bullet, brand image is extremely important, which is why this supplement company hired Anna Nicole Smith for advirtising its product. This tpe of person would be more likely to purchase a product if it is associated with a celebrity, or other famous person, just as this company knew they would. Unfortunately, this type of person does not recognize that good diet leads to better health, so this fast-acting weight loss pill allows them to believe that it will make them lose weight without any more effort than simply taking a pill.
Finally, the group of people who fall under "Well-beings" would be attracted to such products that promote the consumption of soy. For example, Silk is a company that targets this group becase to these people, health comes first in products, services, and lifestyle activities. In my opinion, a mother with young children would be targeted for this product because it promotes total health and well-being to the entire family, from young people to older people. The Silk company would target mothers because they play the care-providing role to the children and must protect the family's health. Also, the "well-beings" are the highest users of health-related food and beverages. Silk meets these characteristics because it provides these extremely health-conscious people with omega 3-s, antioxidants, calcium, and all-natural protein grown from the earth. Finally, Silk "contains all the amino acids required for optimum health."

ReplyDeleteFor people in the “Magic Bullets” category, most people desire good health but they want to get it using the easiest way possible. They are also least likely to recognize a connection between diet and health. The Merbalife instant nutritional shake mix is perfect for these people because it’s ready in ten seconds and includes 20g of protein, calcium, and the antioxidants of one fruit serving. It is also scientifically formulated to provide the nutrition of a meal. This is a quick solution to maintain a healthy lifestyle and great nutrition.
ReplyDeleteA person in the “Eat, Drink, and Be Merry” category, is completely oblivious to wellness products and health. They live for the moment and believe they can deal with their health later on in life. If someone from this category is having a bad day, they're the people who will eat a carton of ice cream becasue their emotions drive their tastes. Also, most of these people would be the ones who love fast food because if they’re craving something, they’ll get it then and there. An example would be Starbucks’ Java Chip Frappuccino with its 650 calories. It tastes delicious and it’s not good for you. This is the perfect product for the “Eat, Drink, and Be Merrys”.
People in the “Food Actives” group care a lot about nutrition and being healthy. Out of all the categories, "Food Actives" have the highest usage rates of all health-related foods and beverages. They eat balanced meals and only healthy foods to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They like eating foods with specific benefits as well. Cheerios is a great example because it can help lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. Cheerios is a health related product which is why the “Food Actives” would love it. Also, since eating healthy is a vital part of life for this group, eating Cheerios every day is perfect for them.
The "Eat, Drink and Be Merrys" segment are people who like to indulge themselves. They aren't concerned with what they are putting into their bodies and if it's unhealthy because they want immediate satisfaction. They are emotional eaters and would rather fulfill their taste needs than their health needs. A service that would targeted at this group is any kind of fast food restaurant. It fits their needs of immediate gratification and lack of healthy desires. A product that would target this group are the Ben & Jerry's pints. When this segment is upset, they turn to food. TVs and movies exploit this all the time; a lonely woman who's just been dumped sitting on her couch with a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. They're high in calories, most reaching over 500, but they're delicious and convenient. There's no baking or microwaving involved, all you need to do is open the lid and grab a spoon. Instant satisfaction for the Eat Drink and Be Merrys.
ReplyDeleteThe "Magic Bullets" segment is all about instant results. They are more into the appearance then the healthy aspect of it. When trying to diet and lose weight, they are less likely to do so by eating healthier, and more likely to go out and buy some sort of dietary supplement. A product that would target this segment is QuickTrim. The Kardashian sisters have recently come out and promoted this item, saying that it will give you fast results. The Magic Bullets segment will really like this product because not only does it promise fast results, but they are also into the brand image, so the fact that this particular diet supplement is backed by Hollywood celebs makes it more appealing to them.
The "Well Beings" segment is all about healthy options for everything in their life. The brand and image of it isn't as important to them. A service that would target this segment is Henrys Farmer Market. They are located in California but they are a health based food store. Everything they carry is in someway of benefit to your health. They have everything from food, to dietary supplements, to organic options, to all natural sodas. I used to live in California so I've personally shopped here and know that they cover all your lifestyle needs and activities and that all these products are healthy.
Someone who would fall in the “Magic Bullets” category is someone who would use Zantrex-3, which is a “super pill,” used to burn fat fast. The people who belong in this group want the fastest and easiest way to be healthy. They are also driven by brand image and there are many commercials on television for Zantrex-3, which creates the brand image in the consumer’s mind.
ReplyDeleteFor the “Eat, Drink, and be Merry” category, an example would be Hershey’s chocolate. The people in this category don’t care about eating healthy. Their emotions drive them to eat their feelings and it’s a known fact that most people turn to chocolate when they are upset. These people want a fast fix for how they are feeling and they are willing to leave the health concerns for the future.
People who belong in the “Food Active” group are people who want to maintain a healthy lifestyle through food. Eating healthy is a huge part of their lives and they want to consume nutritious, balanced food. An example for this group would be Hain Pure foods. This brand offers all natural foods without artificial flavors or preservatives. The foods they offer include cookies, crackers, and oils. The people in this group want functional benefits, which is great because Hain Pure Foods offer functional snacks, like calcium-fortified carrot chips and rice cakes.
Those people who fall in the segment of being “Magic Bullets” want to be healthy and mostly turn to dietary supplements and other medications to reach their health goals. These people want the easy route to becoming healthy and seek fast solutions. An example of a product someone in this segment might use would be the Slim Quick weight loss caplets. These pills are designed specifically for women in order to help them reduce their weight while increasing their metabolism and reducing their stress level. This highly advertised product is priced relatively low which encourages the “Magic Bullets” to buy it.
ReplyDeleteFor those people who strive to find a balance between diet, exercise, and nutrition fall in the segment of “Food Actives”. These people have a high usage rate of using healthy foods in order to create/maintain a healthy lifestyle. People in this segment might use the Weight Watchers Program. This program helps people change their eating habits and encourages healthy eating along with exercise in order to stay healthy. People in the “Food Actives” segment are likely to be encouraged by their doctors, and Weight Watchers is a program in which many doctors promote for healthy eating and living.
The “Eat, Drink and Be Merrys” segment include those who are not concerned with their health or with the foods they eat because they are seeking instant gratification. These would be the people who make a stop at Dunkin Donuts every morning before work to pick up breakfast. The sandwiches alone can have as many as 640 calories and then with a drink, the meal could easily reach close to 1,000 calories. People in the morning are often in a hurry, but still want to be able to have breakfast so they turn to fast food options. When they are going through the drive-thru, they are not thinking about the health risks that might arise from their poor eating because they are just seeking gratification from the food which is very common of the “Eat, Drink and Be Merrys”.
As far as a product that targets the "Food Actives" group, most supplements are things that these people are attracted to. The supplements help ensure that your body is getting every important vitamin and mineral that it should so that you can stay health and strong. A perfect example of this is GNC's daily multi vitamin because it has everything that a person who is concerned about their health wants in one small vitamin.
ReplyDeleteAs for the "Eat, Drink and be Merry" group, a product that is perfect for them would be fast food. With fast food, people can get excess to comfort for for under a 2 minute wait. McDonald's Big Macs are a great example of this type of comfort food because people love the taste or it and the way it makes them feel when they take that first bight. They aren't interested in how bad that burger actually is for them with all the saturated fat and high cholesterol because they are purely driven by taste and emotion.
For the "Magic Bullet" group of people, a product that is perfect for them would have to be steroids. People who use steroids want a quick and noticeable gain in muscle and are willing to risk their lives for it. They want a quick fix without having to put the years and years into weight training. This change only benefits them short term because once they do it they change reverse the change and the effects it has already taken on the body. These people are not concerned with the health risks that are involved, and if they are, they do it anyway and just say that they will worry about the health risks later.
A person that winds up in the “Food Actives” category is concerned with having a balanced diet, exercise and nutrition. An example that is targeted toward the “Food Actives” would be Special K. They have the Special K diet and are also supplying you with nutrition while also aiming you in the direction of good nutrition and exercise. A person who is a “Fence Sitter” tend to eat what they are use to eating. They don’t know how to change up their diet and are carefree. An example that is directed toward a “Fence Sitter” would be fast food. Someone in this category could be influenced by the taste of fast food and might have a favorite place to go but they don’t always get fast food. It’s a brand that the person loves and are not getting high nutrition but it’s not the only thing they eat. A person who is in the “Eat Drink and Be Merry” category is someone who is completely unconcerned about their health; they go by the taste of the food that will satisfy their emotions. An example of something that would be directed towards the “Eat Drink and Be Merry” people would be Potato Chips. These are the people who will sit there and eat an entire bag of potato chips while watching TV and not care at all. They are satisfying the craves and urges that they are getting and eat the most unhealthy foods and are happy about it.
ReplyDeleteA person who falls into the Food Active category is dedicated to health through food. They are driven by a desire for balance of diet, exercise, and nutrition. They seek long-term solutions through healthy, balanced foods. These people are more likely to eat foods such as Healthy Choice, which are low in sodium and calories and are a better alternative to other frozen/ prepared meals.
ReplyDeleteMagic Bullets and people who desire to be in good health, but they want to do it by the easiest means available. This includes dietary supplements, OTC and prescription medication. They always search for quick solutions and are a somewhat health struggling group. An example of a product that targets this group is the dietary drug Alli. Alli blocks 25% of the fat that a person eats from being absorbed into the body, causing it to pass through your body.
Eat, Drink and be Merry's are people who are unconcerned about health or the food they eat. They see no need for health and wellness products and are driven to eat what tastes good to them. An example of a product that this group would use is Oreo cookies because Oreo's and not good for you and people who eat them are not concerned with how many calories eat cookie is or how many grams of fat are in eat cookie.
People who fall under the well-beings category are concerned about their health, but do not look into brand names before they buy a healthy product. They also have the highest use of weight loss products, and the highest rate of health related foods and beverages. A product that might be targeted to these people is protein shake weight loss beverage. Since these people are concerned about health and are very highly interested in weight loss products, something like Slimfast would appeal to them. Also so they do not care about the brand image or price, a generic brand of the protein shake may also be best targeted towards them.
ReplyDeletePeople who are under the category of food actives live a very healthy lifestyle through good nutrition and exercise. These people are your highest users of health foods, and especially those health foods that are geared towards a specific benefit. Since they are trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, these people are more concerned about their long term health rather than quick results like the magic bullets. Instead of using products which the results appear quick, they are more concerned on how a product will continue to make them healthier in the long run. A product that could be targeted towards these people would be a health related food/beverage that has a special benefit. For example, the health beverage of apple cider vinegar. This health beverage may not taste the best, but it helps balance the natural acids in our body, helps with maintaining a healthy weight, helps prevent diabetes, and helps maintain a healthy digestive tract. Food actives would love this product because it helps with long term health, and is geared towards specific benefits.
Lastly, the eat drink and be merry’s is your common eat what they please person. They are driven by the taste and emotion rather than how good the food is for you. A good example of this would be any type of fast food, or desserts. When in a grocery store, these are the type of people to market a good picture on a dessert box. For example a good food choice would be a box of brownies. These people will decide what to choose based on their emotions and not on how healthy the product is. They will not look on the back of the box and see how many calories are in the product, they will just see how good it looks on the front of the box. If the brownies look good, then most likely their emotions will take over and they will purchase the product.
In the “Eat, Drink, and Be Merry” segment, people are unaware of wellness and health products in the market. These people decided that they are driven by their taste or emotion at the time, they are not rational about their choice in food. One example of a “Eat, Drink, and Be Merry” food is a Big Mac without cheese that contains 576 calories. This type of person desires products like fast food because of their emotions and their tastes. A Big Mac is greasy, fatty, and has high sodium but it wonderfully delicious. This is why a Big Mac is perfect for this segment.
ReplyDeleteIn the “Magic Bullets” segment, people desire health through dietary supplements, OTC, and prescription medicines. They are not concerned about healthy foods or what they are eating; they just use a high amount of product to get their desired results. One dietary supplement is Vitamin C with Echinacea. This product is sold by Wegmans for decent price, which is a great brand for the product because it is quality assured and known for its great pharmacy. This is essential because this segment is all about the brand and is also aware of price for the product. The product is “the combination of vitamin C and Echinacea is designed to nourish and stimulate the body's own defenses.” Vitamin C and Echinacea is a wonderful product for this segment.
In the “Food Actives” segment, people are very concerned about the products they consume on a regular basis. They look for products that will allow them to maintain a healthy and well balanced diet. One product that would fit well in this category would be Bear Fruit Bars. Bear Fruit Bars contain many minerals such as potassium, calcium, iron, and fiber. They also contain around 2 servings of organic fruit to create their delicious flavor. This is a fabulous product for this segment.
The "well beings" are people who value their health above everything else. These people are the most likely to use dietary supplements. Over the past year, about 37.4% of adults have taken an omega-3 fish oil supplement. The omega-3 supplement helps to protect against coronary disease. These people are also most likely to take other supplements such as calcium supplements, to ensure strong bones.
ReplyDelete"Food active" people are those that tend to eat food that is functional and will do something for their body. Some examples of these are foods that burn fat, boost metabolism, and lower cholesterol. One food that the "food active" people would be interested in is blueberries. Blueberries are proven to lower cholesterol as effectively as commercial drugs with fewer side effects.
"Magic bullets" is the group of people who seek a quick fix to their dieting and weight problems. They want to be healthy, but don't want to put in the effort. These people are most likely to take over the counter pills and weight loss pills. An over the counter weight loss pill that the "magic bullets" would be interested in is Thermadrol. TThermadrol is a dietary supplement that is claimed to “help dieters lose up to 10 pounds in only seven days.” Thermadrol also claims to assist with fat burning by raising a user’s metabolism up to 600% higher than average, suppressing appetite, increasing metabolic rates and boosting energy levels.

"Eat Drink and be Merry" would be best targeted with guilty pleasure foods. The are unconcerned about health benefits of food, but also unconcerned with negative benefits of food. Beer is a great product to market this group. No health benefits and the added fun of alcohol makes it a perfect product for this product.
ReplyDelete"Fence Sitters" would be best influenced by an existing company coming out with a healthier alternative to an existing product. Since the can be easily influenced by brand, a fast food company such as subway may be a good target.
"Well Beings" have the habit of consuming healthy foods and will only consume the foods that they see as healthy. Cliff bars may be a good product to market here. They are all natural and even appear to be in a much more organic state that a Powerbar or other similar products.
The group of "Food Actives" are people who put their health and wellness above everything else in their life. These people watch their cholesterol and eat foods that will maintain a healthy life style. A person from this group who grocery shops at Wegman's would most likely shop in the organic section and look for foods that only contribute healthy supplements. These people try to stay away from all the fatty foods.
ReplyDeletePeople in the "Magic Bullet" section are people who want to be healthy, but don't really want to put in the time. They would rather take the easy way out and take over the counter supplements or weight loss supplements. A good product for to describe this group would be creatine. With this, they just have to work out a little bit and the creatine will do the rest.
The final group is the "Eat Drink and Be Merry" group. These people don't care about their health and will eat whatever they please. The figure they will deal with their health issues when the time comes. They enjoy what they eat and if they want fast food, all the fat and cholesterol is not going to stop them. A good product for them is microwavable popcorn. Instead of popping their own popcorn and making their own healthy butter, they would rather spend only 2 minutes and have it be done in no time.
In the "Magic Bullet" segment, this group usually looks to take the path of least resistance. THey want the quick fix and tend to buy into fads and "instant result" products. One of the hottest trends on the market is the Acai Berry. This "superfood" claims to have benefits that combat early aging, promotes cardiovascular and digestive health, and helps in weight loss. this berry has been flooding the internet as well as being discussed by Dr. Oz on Oprah. the Magic bullets also, more than likely own several pieces of excercise equipment such as the "Ab Blaster" and "power rider" as advertised on informercials on TV.
ReplyDeleteThe "Well Being" group is the most authentically health conscious group. Not only by watching the foods they eat, but what's in the food they eat and how it is grown. Organic foods and products would have an appeal to this group. Alternative medicine such as acupuncture and herbal supplements would also be in high demand with this group.
the "Eat Drink and be Merry" segment is most likely the target of fast food, soft drink, snack food and comfort foods because eating is an experience to them and they associate food with family, friends, good times, etc.
A service that is targeted to "Well Beings" are any kind of gym membership or fitness class such as yoga. "Well Beings" put health first before anything, so they only participate in activities that are beneficial to their bodies. Gym memberships that include classes like yoga are a great way for these people to stay healthy and in shape so this service would be perfect for "well Beings."
ReplyDelete"Eat, Drink, and be Merry's" aren't to concerned with health issues at the moment and base most of their food purchases on their emotions at that time. Businesses who sell junk foods, deserts, or fatty foods would benefit from these consumers. A particular product that would be targeted towards these consumers would Mars Candy Bars. Mars produce Snickers, Milky Way’s and other Candy bars. When you shopping at a typical grocery store such as Wegmans, these products are always at the checkout for customers to buy. This is for these consumers who purchase from emotion and impulse.
"Food Actives" obtain health through a diet containing healthy food. They consume the most health related foods and beverages. A company that would target these consumers would be Whole Foods Market. Whole Foods Market sell high quality natural and organic products. They will target these consumers because they know these consumers value healthy foods.
Those in the "food actives" segment are concerned with maintaining a diet by eating healthy. For example, these individuals would be interested in a drink like orange juice - or any kind of natural, healthy juice - (opposed to something like soda) that helps give their body the necessary nutrients. Those in this segment are conscious of their body, and making choices like this to ensure they carry out a healthy lifestyle are certain to occur.
ReplyDeleteThose that are a part of the "eat drink and be merry" segment are not concerned with health implications that might come from their actions. For example, an individual that has a poor diet consisting mostly of greasy pizza would fall into this category. The pizza in mass quantities can have serious health risks (over weight, leading to heart issues, etc) but the individual in this segment simply does not care. Sadly, this section is the 2nd largest among the five (22%).
Magic bullets are conscious of health, but they want it generally through the easiest and quickest means possible. This individual could choose to have a procedure done to their body, a quick fix that would instantly provide benefits to the body. An example would be a colonscopy. The procedure is easy and quick, and brings immense benefits to the body immediately.
Magic Bullets are looking for the simple, easy, and fast way to be healthier or change something about themselves. The perfect product for them is the 5 hour energy drinks. Only a small shot glass sized bottle to drink gives them energy for a minimum of 5 hours and usually longer. Due to the ease of use of this product, the effectiveness, and the availability of it, 5 hour energy drinks are a great example of a product fit for the Magic Bullets segment.
ReplyDeleteThe Food Active segment idealizes healthy alternative foods that are a simple way to increase their everyday health. A great product for this segment is wheat alternatives such as wheat pasta and wheat bread. A simple switch from regular foods to wheat foods are a great healthy alternative.
Fence Sitters are pretty indifferent about their products and a popular brand name would stick out more than anything else to people in this segment. A great product for them would be Coke. Due to the popularity of the brand name, which has become synonymous with soda, Coke would stick out to Fence Sitters and be the preference of them over other products.
"Eat, Drink, and be Merry's" are people who do not value healthy food choices and eat mostly what their brain says they want. They choose foods that also go with their emotions. This group of people are not concerned a lot about their weight and choose to worry about it later and decide how they will fix the problem of being over weight if that is what happens. Some of this group does use dietary supplements though. A example of this category would be chocolate chip cookies or cookies in general. They are one of the top comfort foods and are targeted at all different age groups. They could be just a snack after dinner or could fulfill a craving and could be eaten in mass amounts. I think cookies could fill the category of "eat, drink, and be merrys."
ReplyDelete"Magic bullets" are a group of people who are all about using diet supplementary products and are looking for anyway to lose weight quickly. They usually are looking for a cheap way to do it as well. I think that the Atkins Diet would fit under the "magic bullets" category. The Atkins Diet is a diet where you only eat some meats, fish, dairy, and vegetables. It is a low carb diet. I think it would be affordable for someone to go on this diet and would be a fast and easy way to lose weight that they desire.
"Food Actives" are people who dedicate their lives to eating healthy foods. They are under the category for eating and drinking healthy food and beverages. These people make it clear that they will only eat and drink something that is healthy for them. This group is looking for lasting results as well. I think an example of "food actives" is eating fruit. Fruit is a great choice for healthy eaters and can be eaten at least once a day. It goes well with breakfast and can be eaten as a snack too. It is also a low cost product normally.
"food activities" are people who want to eat healthy and live a healthy life through the foods which they eat. They stick to their diet it through and through. An example of this would be Smart choice. Which is food dedicated to those who wish to eat healthy and have assistance with their meals.
ReplyDelete"Eat, drink, and be merry" are the type of people who do not care one bit about the nutritional value of the food they are consuming. They are about eating what they desire and enjoying the good times. A perfect example of this would have to be peanut butter fudge. There is no value to eating this except for personal enjoyment. Typically high in sugar and found to be very delicious.
"magic bullets" are a group of people who look to be healthy but not exactly through food itself. They are likely to use some sort of dietary supplement. They would prefer to do this in the most inexpensive manner as possible. An example of this would be Caltrate. This is a supplement which ups the calcium in the human body and helps the user at a low cost to stay healthy.
A person who would fall in the Magic Bullet category would use hydroxycut, which is a fat burner pill. These kinds of people like brand image, and hydroxycut is marketed on television a good amount and have made a good reputation for their product. Also, the people who use these types of products are looking for the fastest, easiest way to be healthy.
ReplyDeleteEat, Drink, and be Merry's aren't to concerned with health issues at the moment and base most of their food purchases on their emotions at that time. A good product targeted towards these people are Hershey candy products. They are located at the checkout counters at convenient stores so people who buy on impulse can quickly grab one to go.
Food Actives have a diet containing healthy food. They consume the most health related foods and beverages. A product targeted towards these people would be any organic foods at the supermarket. Organic foods are foods dedicated to those who wish to eat healthy and have assistance with their meals.
For Food Actives my example is Campbell's Select Harvest soups. The soup are made with all farm fresh ingredients and real meat. There's is no MSG and lower sodium. The soup is a much healthier choice when choosing a canned soup. They also come in microwavable containers which make it easier to eat healthier for lunch by bringing it with you to the office.
ReplyDeleteFor Eat, Drink, and Be Merry my example is again going to be a soup but this soup tastes good and is cheap but has no nutritional value whatsoever the soup is a salty broth and white noodles. My example is Top Ramen soups. They have a great taste but that's it those who enjoy them merely eat them for the taste and nothing else.
For Well Beings my example is salad. Salad is all nutrition. All it's ingredients are healthy and have a lot of nutritional value. People choice to eat salad for the health factor and it is often eaten when people are on a diet, because there is no fat content.
The "East Drink and Be Merrys" would definitely purchase the uncoffee chillers at Gloria Jean's where I am a barista. The chillers are blended drinks and the uncoffee chillers are ones that instead of using a coffee base use a combination of ice cream base and 2% milk. These drinks begin at about 600 calories in a small and can be almost 1500 calories in a large. Eat Drink and Be Merrys order large uncoffee chillers on a daily basis completely unconcerned with the caloric effect. A milkshake would be healthier in most cases.
ReplyDeleteA "Fence Sitter" is the type of Gloria Jean's customer who sees the advertisement for making our drinks "skinny" meaning skim milk rather than 2%. This person orders the skinny latte and then when asked for whipped cream thinks about the decision for much longer than they need to and decides with the response, "sure, why not". These people are somewhat brand inlfuenced which is why they come to Gloria Jean's because although it is not Starbuck's it is a specialty brand coffee. Also, these customers are neutral on most health issues which is why although they may have been driven to order the "skinny" latte, they ultimately did not care about the extra whipped topping.
An example of "Food Active" customers for Gloria Jean's is a middle aged couple who walk laps around the mall every Saturday morning for the past five years or more. On their way out they order a large unsweetened iced tea to share. The couple is obviously interested in healthy lifestyle and drink tea for its health benefits such as antioxidants. They never use sweetener and have the drink to quench their thirst after a brisk morning walk.
“Well Beings” have a low usage of RX medication and are more likely to use alternative healthcare. This is why they are more likely to use the service of Traditional Chinese Medicine. TCM uses pressure, heat and acupuncture applied to the body's acupunctural points to modify the activity of the body’s systems. TCM is an effective natural treatment for headaches, strains, and much more.
ReplyDelete“Magic Bullets” have the highest usage of OTC products and weight loss products. This is why Green Tea Weight Loss Pill is a product of interest for this group. The pill increases metabolism and the body’s natural fat burning process. The Green Tea Pill will be a quick solution for this health struggling group.
“Eat Drink and Be Merrys” are unconcerned about health or the food they eat. This group is also driven by taste and emotion which is why they are more likely to eat fried food with statured fat. Statured fats are bad because they raise cholesterol levels. Friend foods are quick to make and are tasty and serve as immediate gratifiers to a bad day.
People that fall into the "Food Active" group are concerned with a well balanced and nutrition-filled diet. Something that a food active person might want to work into their diet is more nuts. Nuts are a good source of carbohydrates, replenishing your system with energy. Plus nuts can be mixed in with other healthy foods such as yogurt and trail mix.
ReplyDelete"Eat Drink and be Merry" have little concern for their overall well-being and long-term health. This type of person is usually eating a hastily prepared meal that will satisfy their current craving. For some people, energy drinks fall into that category. Energy drinks are packed full of sugar, have little nutritional value, and also they seem to quench your thirst they are actually only dehydrating you even more. Another negative about them is the crash that most people will experience after the consumption of one of them, leaving a person reaching for another one.
A "Fence Sitter" does not do much research about products, they can be easily influenced by brand names, and find themselves falling into habits where they eat what they get used to eating and therefore find it hard to promote change in their diets. Skipping breakfast is something that comes to mind when I think of a bad habit that is unhealthy and hard to get out of. This can also lead to people grabbing whatever is available in the morning, which is where being influenced by brand names could take place. A pop tart or stopping at Dunken Donuts could become a popular option for a fence sitter.
The “Eat, Drink, and be Merrys” group is the people that do not care about their health what so ever. These types of people eat with their emotions. As an example when someone is depressed they might eat. A product that goes along with this is Mc Donald’s and the Big Mac with 540 calories.
